Is it tackey to ask people to contribute to my 2 year olds college fund instead of a birthday gift?

I personally wouldn't feel comfortable giving away an account number like that and it sounds like it may end up in someone else's pocket since a two year old can't create an account. I would just accept gifts, he's young! I say once he is older and has a 13-18th b-day party, you add that you will accept college money. Don't stress about the big stuff now, he's got a while to go, and he may not even want to go to college, consider that!
