Major restructuring of Parent's home...Limited options...any suggestions?

We had the same problem , converted the downstairs lounge area into a bedroom *** sitting room. We added a portable shower, not sure if you have room for this in the laundry as you say bathroom to small as most laundry's have room if you move out the junk. Put everything not useful upstairs as it was no longer required. The chair idea is good as suggested by another yahoo er but these can be expensive.Good Luck you really care about your parents and that is very nice to hear.
